Gianni Spezzano

Hi, I’m Gianni Spezzano. I’m Italian, born in Naples — though abroad people often mistake me for Spanish. Maybe it’s the look, maybe the attitude… who knows.

One thing’s for sure: I have a face people remember. As a teenager, I hated my nose — it felt too much, too present. Today, I can’t imagine myself without it. My nose, my beard, my mustache… they’ve become part of who I am, in life and in the roles I play.

I’m often cast as the “bad guy” or the unlikeable one. At first, I saw it as limiting, because the truth is I’m a deeply sensitive person. But over time I’ve come to see those characters as full of potential — especially when you allow a glimpse of their cracks beneath the surface. That’s where I do my work: in the quiet vulnerabilities that make even the hardest characters human.

I’m 40, I have experience, and I know I’m not for everyone. I trained in Theatre Biomechanics, and I dedicate as much of my time to theatre as I do to screen work. I also write — both scripts and stage plays — because I want to live cinema and theatre from every angle.
