Nina Valenti

I can finally say it: I am an actress. My background is different from that of most of my colleagues. I pursued an academic career in economics and, just a step away from becoming a consultant, I gave it all up to become who I have always wanted to be: an actress. 

It wasn’t an impulsive escape, nor a romantic rebellion. It was a conscious choice, developed over time, through doubts, resistance, and fears. That’s why today it is such a solid decision. The obstacles I faced only strengthened my hunger, passion, and determination, which I urge to put into every project, on stage and in front of the camera. 

Acting has never been an immediate or rational response for me. It is something I have always felt, even when words weren’t enough. Like those pains that are so intense you can’t even begin to visualise them. “Where precisely do you feel it?”. But you don’t know. It is everywhere. For years, I felt the same way. 
 For me, it has always been very clear; I have never really asked myself why I wanted to act. I didn’t need to. I just did not need to justify myself for being different. 

As a teenager, I struggled with self-esteem, as most adolescents do. And in those very moments when I couldn’t recognise myself, acting gave me an answer, or a solution, it depends. 
 
Then, as I grew older, life led me to study something else, and I committed myself fully. I was almost at my destination: two degrees, a master’s, and almost my first job… and that was the moment I decided to stop living someone else’s life.  

Today, I am a proud actress with a passion for finance and numbers.
