PierGiuseppe Di Tanno

Piergiuseppe Di Tanno is an Italian actor and performer known for his innovative, physically intense work in contemporary theater and performance art, which often integrates elements of dance, vocal expression, and poetry. Born in 1983 in Abruzzo, he trained at the Accademia Nazionale d’Arte Drammatica “Silvio d’Amico” and has developed a distinctive stage presence influenced by Butoh dance and collaborations with directors such as Roberto Latini, Davide Iodice, and companies including Industria Indipendente. In 2018 he received the Premio Ubu as Best Actor/Performer Under 35, recognized for his compelling performances in works like Lucifer by Industria Indipendente and Sei… e dunque perché si fa meraviglia di noi? by Roberto Latini. [2] His practice emphasizes a political and ritual dimension of performance, combining rigorous movement study with ethical and aesthetic commitment, while his nomadic approach and international engagements have led to site-specific projects across Europe and India. Di Tanno has also transitioned into screen work, appearing in the television series Romulus created by Matteo Rovere and the feature film Roma Elastica directed by Bertrand Mandico. [1] In addition to his performing career, he published the poetry collection Malincòmio in 2023–2024, which he subsequently adapted into a theatrical performance, further expanding his multidisciplinary presence in the Italian arts scene.
