Stefano Cenci

An actor, writer, and director, he graduated in 1996 from the Alessandra Galante Garrone Theatre School in Bologna, where he met some of the most important masters of the stage. This led to a series of long-standing collaborations with major theater institutions (Teatro Due – Stabile di Parma, Arena del Sole – Stabile di Bologna, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Metastasio di Prato, and the Reggio Emilia Theatres) both as an actor and as a writer and director, both in drama and opera. Among his most notable collaborations was his 2002 arrival at the Compagnia della Fortezza situated in Volterra's prison, directed by Armando Punzo, where he remained for twelve years as an actor, assistant director, and trainer, starring in award-winning productions (I Pescecani after B. Brecht – UBU 2003, Hamlice after Carroll/Shakespeare – UBU 2011, to name a few). Author of dozens of texts, he uses his original theatrical creations to directly engage the host community, drawing from them human and poetic material that ultimately transforms the performance. Since 2007, his career as a theatre educator and researcher has also been complemented by his role as artistic director of the Arti Vive project, which he created in Soliera (MO), managing the city's theatre and a major independent music festival.
