Veronica Melis

Since I was a child I was trained in dance, music and theater. I have obtained three professional Diplomas for Dancers and Actors and a Degree in Performing Arts Disciplines from the University of Bologna.
I have lived the last 20 years of my life working, living and traveling mostly outside of Italy. I have toured internationally, performed in 6 languages, performing in major theaters and famous festivals around the world.  I have over 30 years as a performer (dancer, actress for theater, television, film) and over 20 as a show creator and teacher.
As a performer, I have collaborated with numerous theater, dance-theater and/or circus companies including the one of Daniele Finzi Pasca, Abbondanza/Bertoni, Cesare Ronconi and Mariangela Gualtieri, Harold Rhéaume, Hélène Blackburn and Maria Vittoria Campiglio, among others.
As a creator-choreographer and director, I have directed some 20 projects that integrate different scenic languages in a hybrid, poetic and " tragicomic " form. My work has been applauded and appreciated internationally and critics have called me " a " total artist ".
I have taken part in several films (Hot Dog), television series (Les Maitres du Suspence, La planète des femmes, Lien Fatal 2) and directed the actors' movement for directors such as Brigitte Haentjens, René-Daniel Dubois, Hugo Bélanger.
In 2008 I founded in Canada, the creation collective MAG, together with director Marie-Josée Gauthier and musician Luzio Altobelli, also beginning to work in the world of Nouveau Cirque as a performer and as a director. Parallel to my stage activity, I am also an artistic consultant at the National Circus School in Montréal, a university lecturer, a member of numerous interdisciplinary artistic juries as well as a mentor of young creation companies in Italy and abroad.
